Statement of Faith

What we believe, in plain words.

We would rather you read this before you visit than discover it afterward. Nothing here is hidden, softened, or held back for a private conversation later.

Our Doctrine

Seven articles we hold without apology.

  1. The Scriptures

The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to man, verbally inspired, and the final authority on all matters of life — spiritual and physical alike.

  2. God

There is one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — co-equal in power and glory.

  3. Jesus Christ

The eternal Son of God became man without ceasing to be God, born of a virgin. He accomplished our redemption through His substitutionary death on the cross and His literal, bodily resurrection.

  4. Salvation

Salvation is the gift of God, brought to man by grace and received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ — not by works, that no one should boast.

  5. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates and indwells every believer, and empowers the Christian for a life of holiness and service.

  6. The Church

The church is made up of born-again believers. We observe two ordinances: water baptism by immersion, and the Lord's Supper.

  7. Things to Come

We believe Christ will rapture His church prior to the seven-year tribulation period, after which He will return to establish His earthly kingdom.

Our complete Statement of Faith also addresses the creation and fall of man, human sexuality and marriage, and the qualifications for pastoral ordination. A printed copy is available at the chapel, and Pastor Jim will gladly go through any part of it with you — the church office.

Church Covenant

What we promise one another.

A statement of faith says what a church believes. A covenant says how its members agree to treat each other. Ours is the older kind — read aloud, meant to be kept, and short enough to remember.

Members of this congregation engage together in the following:

  1. To walk together in Christian love, and to advance this congregation in knowledge, holiness, and comfort.

  2. To sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrine — and to give cheerfully and regularly toward the ministry, the expenses of the church, relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

  3. To maintain family and private devotions, to teach our children the Word of God, and to seek the salvation of our households.

  4. To walk circumspectly in the world, to be just in our dealings, faithful in our commitments, and exemplary in our conduct.

  5. To watch over one another in brotherly love, to remember one another in prayer, to aid one another in sickness and distress, and to be slow to take offense — always ready for reconciliation.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16
